Image protection – Protecting your images from downloading

If you are a photographer and publish your work online, then chances are, that you have faced the unfortunate yet increasingly common situation of your images being stolen, copied and used without your permission. You must read our complete guide here.

Here are few methods to protect your images to avoid becoming a piracy victim.

1. Watermark your images

You can easily add a visible watermark (Your name, Brand name etc) to all your images at the time of upload in Pixpa. You can choose between adding a Text based watermark or an Image based watermark for your images.

Watermarking is an irreversible process. Once the images are marked with watermark, you can not get the original image from Pixpa ecosystem (means without watermarked). You have to upload your images again if you want to remove the watermark text or edit the same.

2. Disabling the Right-click from website images

You can disable the right-click on your Pixpa website images:

Go to the main settings page; you would see the toggle on the right side.

3. Disabling the Right-click from entire website

You can also disable the right-click on your entire Pixpa website:

  1. Go to the main settings page; scroll down to external script section.
  2. Copy the following code and paste in <body> script section and hit save button.
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
$(function () {
$(this).bind("contextmenu", function (e) {
e.preventDefault();});
});
</script>

4. Reducing the image size

You may also reduce your image size at first place and upload the same.

Tip: Disabling right click doesn’t help that much as visitors can still inspect the code (once the website renders in the browser) and you can never stop anyone to take a screenshot of the screen.

The only sure way is to add a watermark to the image itself.
