What happens when I change the template?

Pixpa templates are pre-designed presets crafted by experts to help you achieve the desired look for your website. Each template comes with specific visual elements and layout styles that can be further customized using the Style Editor under the Design section.

What changes when you change your website template

When you switch to a new template, several visual and layout elements are updated to match the new template style:

  • Website Styling: The fonts, colors, spacing, and other design elements of the new template are applied to your website.
  • Gallery Layouts: If the Sitewide Gallery option is enabled, the preset gallery layouts of the new template will be applied. (Override Sitewide Gallery Style)
  • Folder Layouts: The folder layout and style will be updated to match the new template.
  • Header & Footer: The design and layout of the new template’s header and footer are inherited.
  • Buttons & Links Styling: The button styles, typography, and link designs will be applied from the new template.

What does not change?

Certain elements remain unchanged when switching templates:

  • Page Content and Layout: Your existing pages’ content and layout will not change and automatically adapt to the new template’s pages’ layout.
  • Navigation/Menu Links: The site menu remains the same, ensuring that links and pages stay intact.
  • Content is not imported from the new template: Content (pages/galleries/blogs/folders) from new template is not copied to your website.
  • Note: As an optional step, you can copy the home page of the template you are switching to.
    • If the selected template uses a page as its home layout, you can import that home page to your website, when switching templates.
    • The imported demo home page will be added as an inactive link in the Website section at the end. You can edit, delete, or set it as your website’s home page as needed.
    • Note: If the new template’s home page is a folder, gallery, or blog – this option is not available.

Importing content from any Pixpa template to your website:

You can import any page from any Pixpa template easily to your website and then edit the same.

There are some quick methods to achieve the same without changing templates.

  • Import any Page from any Template: If you like the look of any page from a template, instead of changing the entire template you can import it and edit the content to match your brand. Click here to know how to.
  • Reset Website to Selected Template (Trial Users Only): If you want to import the entire content of any template follow these steps:
    • Switch to the template of your choice.
    • Trial users can reset the content of their website to the selected template, allowing them to start fresh with a new design. This would delete the entire content of your website, and then import all the content(pages) from the template. Learn more.
  • Import the home page of the template you are switching to:
    • As an optional step, you can copy the home page of the template you are switching to.
